Before anything, let’s discuss briefly what stroke is, its causes, risk factors, and prevalence, then prevention.
What is a stroke?
A stroke is an attack on the brain that occurs when the flow of blood is interrupted by a blood clot which causes Ischemic attacks or broken blood vessels which causes Hemorrhagic attacks, both are the two major types of stroke we have.
A stroke is also called cerebrovascular accident (CVA) because it happens suddenly.
Though there are usually warning signs, like one-sided headache, dizziness, early morning numbness, confusion, and speech difficulty.
Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) is a mini-stroke, temporarily occurs and if not managed can cause a major stroke.
Prevalence.
Every two seconds, a stroke attacks a person in the world regardless of age, gender, education, religion, or economic background.
The ailment is currently an epidemic in Nigeria this is because presently its prevalence rate in the country is estimated at over 205,200 each year, and the World
Stroke records showed that one in six people will suffer a stroke in their lifetime, so it’s necessary to look for ways to prevent it at all cost.
We are calling on all individuals, families, communities, health professionals, and governments to raise awareness on major stroke risks and take action to prevent stroke.
It is our collective responsibility to create awareness. Stroke is a terrible health problem and it is expensive to manage or reverse.
Stroke Causes and Risk Factors.
Stroke doesn’t have a causative factor, because it is usually because of complications from other health problems like:
- High Blood Pressure
- Smoking
- Diabetes
- Overweight
- Lack of exercise (sedentary lifestyle)
- Poor Diet (consumption of sugar too much, hydrogenated oils which can damage the arteries)
- High Cholesterol
- Excessive Alcohol Intake
But, whatever the cause of Stroke may be, NATURE IS SUPERIOR to everything and Almighty God is the source of all natural substances we use for cure and prevention of diseases.
Stroke could be prevented if necessary precautions are taken. So many people are unaware of the cause and symptoms of stroke as well as how to respond when it occurs.
Early recognition of the signs of stroke, changes in lifestyle, health check, risk factor management, and early intervention through stroke awareness could make a difference and substantially improve outcomes.
The key is to prevent stroke, not to take risks and wait for its management.
What makes stroke difficult to manage or reverse by many is that it usually causes brain damage.
Each part of the brain controls different functions and that can determine how best to manage the stroke.
Movement-wise, your left brain controls the right side of your body, and your right brain controls your left side, so if there is an obstruction of blood to the left side of the brain, the cells of that side of the brain will begin to die due to lack of oxygen, nutrients, etc but it is the right side that will be affected by stroke ( the paralysis will manifest at the right side) and vice versa.
Function-wise, your left brain controls logic and your right brain controls creativity.
Specifically, some of the tasks commonly associated with the right side of the brain are:
- Creativity
- Intuition
- Imagination
- Facial recognition
- Emotion
- Music
- Arts
- Thinking in images.
Other tasks associated with the left side of the brain are: - Logic
- Analysis
- Sequencing
- Mathematics
- Language
- Critical thinking
- Reasoning
- Thinking in words.
When stroke damages a part of the brain, it hinders your ability to perform whatever tasks that part of the brain is used to control.
For example, someone with a left-side stroke may suffer from aphasia (the inability to understand or express language) – a left brain task.
Someone with a right-side stroke may suffer from emotional ability, which includes involuntary outbursts of emotion – a right-brained task.
It is important to understand which side of your brain was affected by stroke because it will help you identify why certain side effects are happening and how best to manage them when they occur.
Cerebral Angiogram, CT scan, and MRI are some laboratory investigations that can be carried out to know the extent of damage and arteries affected.
Natural medicine holds the best solution to stroke management or reversal.
Stroke can be reversed and it is easier when the right remedies are applied at the early stage of stroke. It can also be reversed even if it’s a long time stroke, the latter will just require longer time and more expenses than at acute stage.
Our stroke herbal preparations help remove plaques from the arteries, which in turn prevents any blockage.
We have many of such herbal preparations, some come in form of capsules, tinctures, even liquid forms, etc. However, due to personal experiences, the tincture preparations and capsule formulas are the most effective.
Enough said, more importantly, stroke can be prevented for life, you can take certain remedies that will prevent you from incidents of stroke permanently. Don’t procrastinate.
The important thing is to seek prevention when you or any loved one even if it’s your enemy who is having any of the above-said risk factors.
Eat healthily
Nutrition plays a key role in stroke prevention.
If you’re diabetic, hypertensive, have heart disease, arteriosclerosis, atherosclerosis, used to sugar consumption, too much stress, alcoholic, etc., your chances of stroke are high.
To reduce your chances of getting stroke, please adhere to the following:
- Avoid sugar
- Stop smoking
- If suitable for you, take ginger tea, it will help clean your arteries
- Avoid alcohol
There is a difference between medicinal tincture and alcohol consumption, though always consult with a specialist to know if suitable for your health, Red wine is OK, has several health benefits but not the same as Beer and other liquors.
- Fresh vegetable juices often are OK, seek professional assistant on how to combine vegetables for juicing
- You need more Omega 3 fatty acids to prevent inflammation, you can get it from fish, avocados, edible seeds and nuts, natural oils
- Engage in physical exercises, exercise is one of the best medicines, sedentary lifestyle can cause stroke, heart disease, and other health problems
- Treat the underlining health problem like hypertension, diabetes, arteriosclerosis, etc with natural medicine to reduce complications because they are the major causes of stroke with stress and others, I mentioned earlier.
- Always have adequate sleep, put off your mobile phones, and sleep early.
- Take colorful fruits, green, yellow, blue, red, white from time to time.
